Robert Nissenbaum

Who Am I?

The work me: A social media consultant, educator, writer and public speaker.

I work with solopreneurs and small to midsized businesses helping them effectively use social media marketing to build relationships, improve brand awareness, drive web traffic, improve SEO and generate leads through an organic process.

What I teach, implement and speak on has its roots in traditional, old school networking and cold calling. My clients, whether business-to-business or business-to-consumer, for profit or not for profit or service-based or retail-based businesses, have been successful when implementing my methods.

My techniques are built on the simple premise that relationships drive business and have developed over a decade of personal experience with my own brands.

The real me: An avid sea kayaker, adventure seeker and fisherman (though still working on the fishing part). I take full advantage of living on the water at Salmon Beach off the west side of Point Defiance Park in Tacoma’s North End.

I spend as much time paddling as I do working. When not on the water, you can find me hiking, camping or otherwise exploring the PNW. Downtime is spent out with friends, on quality with my children or simply having my feet up on the couch.

The volunteer me: I teach LinkedIn classes at Joint Base Lewis McChord to help those transitioning to civilian life and am a kayak fishing guide for Heroes On The Water’s Northwest Chapter. HON helps military veterans & their families relax, rehabilitate and reintegrate through kayak fishing.

Where can you find me?

I’m usually somewhere on or exploring the Puget Sound whenever possible (and you can make that happen more often by hiring me to speak) or fishing off the deck.

When working, I am generally planted in a local coffee shop surrounding by several empty mugs (which may or may not have contained beer at some point. A writer cannot live on coffee alone).

What others have said behind my back?

“What does social media have to do with finding the right clients? —Everything.

“Real relationships are formed when we asked questions and respond to what others are saying; they don’t form from us standing on our soap boxes while spouting words of wisdom.

“Robert’s unique approach to social media marketing will get you out of the online game and back into a real word, personal style of building relationships…one comment at a time.“

Rhonda Negard (Graphic Designer and Collaborative Genius)

“You’re awesome at what you do & I look forward to working with you. If any of you need help with social media, seriously, this is the guy. He will give you a whole new school of thought on how to use it!”

Stephanie Johnson (Health Nut)

“Robert has spoken at my events and workshops on three occasions and there is a reason I keep asking him back; he’s an exceptional speaker, delivers fantastic content and leaves the audience feeling like they have some new knowledge they can implement. (From LinkedIn)”

Julie Fry (Chief Mom Officer)

“I’ve been working on my social media networking tactics following Robert’s advice. After just one week I’ve already seen significant improvements in terms of profile views, influencer connections, traffic to my website, and subscribers to my list. (From LinkedIn)”

Clement Lim (Freelance Copywriter and Content Marketer)

I attended your talk this morning with PRSA. I used to teach social media and now work with Thurston County Elections. I can’t tell you how greatly I appreciated your talk. The theory of getting someone to visit your social business pages flips everything I’d believed on its heels. I’ll definitely play around at work with some of your ideas!
